Lufthansa Group has announced it will equip its fleet of up to 850 aircraft with Starlink, SpaceX's high-performance internet broadband service, starting this year and continuing with both existing and new aircraft, making it the largest airline group in Europe to upgrade its fleet with the service.

All airlines in the Lufthansa Group will receive the upgrade, so you'll have access to broadband on any flight. Lufthansa states it will begin rolling out Starlink in the second half of 2026. By 2029, the group expects its entire fleet to have the new connectivity offering, with further details to follow as the year progresses.

Two members of the Lufthansa Group have detailed specifics, with Brussels Airlines and SWISS. Brussels is modifying its A320 fleet first, followed by its long-haul fleet. SWISS will deploy Starlink once it moves past the planning stage, with further details to follow later this year.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer, Lufthansa Group, spoke on the announcement:

“In our anniversary year, in which we are celebrating Lufthansa’s 100th birthday, we have decided to introduce a new high-speed internet solution from Starlink for all our airlines. The Lufthansa Group is taking the next step and setting an essential milestone for the premium travel experience of our customers. Connectivity on board plays an important role today, and with Starlink, we are not only investing in the best product on the market, but also in the satisfaction of our passengers”

Starlink will be available starting in 2026, free of charge, to all status customers and Lufthansa Travel ID users across all classes. Multiple airlines have already announced plans to install Starlink on board their aircraft, including IAG, Air France, Emirates, and SAS.
